Upgrading the Inventory Import Utility

If you are upgrading the utility from an earlier version, you must first uninstall or remove the earlier version of the utility  from your computer before installing the new version of the Inventory Import Utility.

To upgrade the utility

  1. To uninstall or remove the earlier version,

Take a backup of your IIU configuration settings.

Note: Upgrading from a previous version of the IIU to the 6.4.X version will not retain your settings. However a future version of FASTER Web will retain the settings.

To take a backup, do the following:

a.    Sign in to the FASTER Web application.

b.    Click the Integrations Module.

The Integrations Console page opens.

c.     In the Inventory Import Utility integration, click the Setup link.

The Configuration Setup dialog box opens.

d.    Capture a screenshot of the configuration settings and save it.

You can use this as a backup for future reference.

The Welcome to the Setup Wizard for Inventory Import Utility screen is displayed.

Note:

  • If you are upgrading from the Part Import Utility (1.0) to the Inventory Import Utility (X.0), you must uninstall/remove the Part Import Utility using the Part Import Utility.exe file provided for installing the utility. Double-click the Part Import Utility.exe file and follow prompts to uninstall the utility.

  • If you are upgrading from the Inventory Import Utility (X.0) to the Inventory Import Utility (Y.0), you must uninstall/remove the Inventory Import Utility (X.0) using the Inventory Import Utility.exe file provided for installing the utility. Double-click the Inventory Import Utility.exe file and follow prompts to uninstall the utility.

The Welcome to the Setup Wizard for Inventory Import Utility screen is displayed.

2.    Click Next.

3.    Click Remove, and then click Next.

4.    Follow instructions to remove or uninstall the utility.

Once the Setup Wizard has successfully uninstalled the utility, you are now ready to install the new version of the Inventory Import Utility.

5.    Double click the new version of the installer Inventory Import Utility.exe provided in the installation package Inventory Import utility for FASTER Web v(x).zip. Follow the instructions to complete installation.

Note: After installation, you must configure the utility, and either schedule the import or manually execute the utility to import the records.
