Creating Asset Templates

The Asset Templates section lets you create templates that contain the standard information of the assets. You can use these templates to quickly create an asset record in FASTER Web.

Tip

To view the Manage Asset Templates page, click the Manage Asset Templates link.

Adding an Asset Template

With required permission, you can create an asset template in FASTER Web.

To add an asset template

1.    Click the Assets module.

2.    In the Actions section, click Asset Templates.

The Manage Asset Templates page is displayed.

3.    Click the Add New Template link.

4.    In the Add Minimum Requirements & Identification Information dialog box, perform the following:

o      In the Template Name box, type the name of the template.

o      In the Organization list, select the organization of the asset.

o      In the Status list, select the status of the asset.

The status of the asset can be active, inactive due to accident, or disposed.

o      In the Year box, type the year of manufacture of the asset.

o      In the Make, Model, and Class lists, select the make, model, and classification of the asset, respectively.

o      In the State list, select  the state where the asset is housed.

o      In the Department list, select the department responsible for the charges performed by the asset.

o      In the Availability list, select the availability of asset for use.

o      In the Asset Shop list, select the location where the repairs are performed on the asset.

o      In the Bill Code list, select the bill code type used to bill the asset department.

The Billing for Items section displays the billing type of items based on the bill code selected.

Note:

In the Add Minimum Requirements & Identification Information dialog box, you can enter the following optional fields:

·       In the Drive Train list, select the type of drive train used in the asset.

·       In the GVW box, type the gross vehicle weight of the asset.

·       In the Color list, select the color of the asset.

·       In the Site list, select the location where the asset is housed.

·       In the Priority list, select the priority as how often the asset is used.

·       In the Monitor Group list, select the monitor group of the asset when the asset is compared with other assets.

·       In the Location box, type the parking location of the asset.

·       In the Zip Code box, type the zip code assigned to the asset.

·       In the Comment box, type a brief description about the asset.

·       In the Available Usage Codes section, select the codes that you want to assign the asset, and then click to add codes to the Selected Usage Codes section.

5.    When finished, click one of the following:

o      Save Minimum Requirements & Identification Next > Add Engine to save the information and add the engine details of the asset.

o      Save to save the information and close the dialog box.

o      Cancel to disregard any changes and close the dialog box.

Note: After saving the minimum requirements and identification details of the asset, you can add more details to the asset template such as Engine records, Fuel types, Transmission and Tire Records, Custom Specifications, Meters, Preventive Measures, Scheduled Actions, Warranties, Contacts, and Notes.

Note:

  • While adding an asset meter type, the Meter Required For field lets you mark the meter readings for work order and fuel as required or optional. By default, the Work Order and Fuel check boxes are selected indicating that the meter readings are required. You can clear the check boxes to make the meter readings optional.
  • When you set the required meter reading of work order or fuel to optional, the Optional Meter Warning pop-up box is displayed. You can click Continue to save the meter reading as optional or Cancel to return to the Add Meter dialog box.
  • The Validate On Import check box is applicable only when performing a fuel import. Click the Validate On Import check box to display the invalid meter readings in the Process Errors section even if the Fuel check box is set to optional.

Editing an Asset Template

You can edit an asset template to modify or update the details of the template.

To edit an asset template

1.    On the Manage Asset Templates page, click the View link next to a template that you want to edit.

2.    Make the changes as required.

Note:

  • While editing an asset meter type, the Meter Required For field lets you mark the meter readings for work order and fuel as required or optional.
  • When you update the required meter reading of work order or fuel to optional, the Optional Meter Warning pop-up box is displayed. You can click Continue to save the meter reading as optional or Cancel to return to the Edit Meter dialog box.
  • The Validate On Import check box is applicable only when performing a fuel import. Click the Validate On Import check box to display the invalid meter readings in the Process Errors section even if the Fuel check box is set to optional.

Deleting an Asset Template

With the required permission, you can delete an asset template.

To delete an asset template

1.    On the Manage Asset Templates page, click the View link next to a template.

2.    Click the Delete link at the upper-right corner of the page.

3.     In the Delete Template dialog box, click one of the following:

o      Yes, Delete Template to confirm deletion.

o      Cancel to close the dialog box.
