FASTER Web lets you create and store the standard details of an asset in a template. For more information about creating an asset template, see the Asset Templates section.
You can use the asset template to quickly create an asset. The asset created from a template has its details automatically populated based on the template. You can modify these details based on your requirements. Also, you must specify the details that are unique to each asset such as Asset Number, License, and Serial numbers.
To view the Create Asset from Template dialog box, click the Create Asset from Template link.
1. Click the Assets module.
2. In the Actions section, click Create Assets.
3. In the Asset Templates list of Create an Asset from Template section, select a template.
4. Click Create Asset from Template.
The Create Asset from Template dialog box opens.
Note: · Before creating the asset from a template, if you have verified the VIN details of the asset with the NHTSA service, and if the VIN details matches the asset template details, the Organization, VIN/Serial Number, Year, Make, Model, and Drive Train fields in the Create Asset from Template dialog box auto-populate the details of the asset. · Before creating the asset from a template, if you have verified the VIN details of the asset with the NHTSA service, and if the VIN details does not match the asset template details, the Confirm Asset Detail dialog box opens. You can select the values of Year, Make, Model, and Drive Train either from the template or from the VIN decoded values. The selected values auto-populate in the Create Asset from Template dialog box. |
5. In the Asset Number box, type a unique number to identify the asset.
6. In the License Plate box, type the license plate number assigned to the asset.
7. In the VIN/Serial Number box, type the vehicle identification number of the asset.
If you have verified the vehicle identification number from the VIN Decoder section, the vehicle identification number auto-populates in the VIN/Serial Number box.
Note: In the Fields Unique to this Asset section, you can enter the following optional fields: · In the Chassis Serial Number box, type the chassis number of the asset. · In the Body Serial Number box, type the body serial number of the asset. · In the Financial Reference Number box, type the financial reference number assigned to the asset. |
8. In the Meter section, specify the asset meter details. For more information about asset meter, see Managing Meters section.
Note: · You can change the required meter of work order and/or fuel to optional. To do this, in the Meter Required For field of the Meters section, clear the Work Order and/ or Fuel check box, as required. Upon saving the asset record, the Optional Meter Warning dialog box displays the impact of making the required meter reading optional. Click Continue to save the meter reading as optional or Cancel to return to the Create Asset from Template dialog box. · The Acquired Meter Reading box is populated with a default value that is provided when setting up a meter type. You can change this value, if required. |
9. In the PM section, specify the preventive maintenance details. For more information, see Managing Preventive Maintenance section.
10. In the SA section, specify the scheduled action details. For more information, see Managing Scheduled Action section.
11. In the Warranty section, specify the warranty details. For more information, see Managing Warranties section.
12. In the Basic fields from the Template section, specify the basic asset details. For more information, see Adding an Asset Template section.
13. In the Billing Details section, specify the asset billing details. For more information, see Adding an Asset Template section.
14. When finished, click one of the following:
o Save & View to save and view the asset information.
o Save & New to save the information and add another record.
o Cancel to disregard any changes and close the dialog box.
