Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) allows users to access FASTER Web and its associated applications using their Microsoft Active Directory credentials. This method is primarily used when the FASTER Web Application Server is hosted in the cloud and FASTER Web cannot directly connect to the Active Directory server to authenticate users.
When using AD FS Authentication mode, users can login to FASTER Web and MotorPool (if purchased) applications from the main sign in page using the following types of authentication:
· AD FS Login: Using AD FS Authentication, most users will login to FASTER Web using their Active Directory (AD) credentials. With AD FS, users do not enter their credentials directly into FASTER Web, instead users are redirected to the AD FS sign in page.
• Application Login: It may still be necessary to provide access to users who do not have an Active Directory login. For those users, a link has been provided that brings up the FASTER Web sign in page where a user can login using FASTER Web credentials.
Pre-requisites:
AD FS 2.0 or above: AD FS must be public facing (accessible from the internet) and also a third party trusted certificate is required
Installed instance of FASTER Web
Authentication Settings must be configured within FASTER Web for the following:
o Active Directory User Group
o Active Directory Username
o Active Directory Password
